Located in the heart of downtown Inverness, the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum offers three stimulating exhibitions on the first floor that explore 12,000 years of Citrus County and Florida history. Traveling and special temporary exhibits are scheduled throughout the year. The beautifully restored courtroom on the second floor is available to all visitors.
The museum is free and open to the public during museum hours. Staff office hours are available to assist with research requests, building rentals, and Citrus County Historical Society business.
Accessibility:
The museum is fully accessible with an ADA compliant ramp to enter from the outside of the building and the first floor, as well as a working elevator that connects the inside 1st floor to the 2nd floor for all to be able to view displays and rooms that are open to the general public.
Directions and Parking:
The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum is the only building located directly on the town square. Free parking is available around the square with a 2-hour time limit or in the lot to the east of the building with no time restriction. There are handicap parking spaces available in both areas.
