It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a champion of the Citrus County Historical Society and cherished friend, Flo Jones, who passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023. Flo was a longtime volunteer at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum, starting out as a deputized volunteer for the Clerk of the Court and assisting with historical research requests at the museum archives. Flo was always the type to step in and help wherever it was needed, and she quickly became an invaluable member of our volunteer family. Flo helped research and create exhibits, worked countless programs and events, and with her keen understanding of people and her love for the community made our museum a better place.
In 2019, Flo stepped into the role of Vice President for the Citrus County Historical Society. She loved history and was passionate about telling the story of Citrus County and Florida and sharing it with our community. Her leadership was vital in getting the historical society through the difficulties of the pandemic, encouraging any actions to continue serving our community, while keeping those most at risk safe.

Although her achievements and contributions to the Historical Society are too numerous to be accounted here, she was a driving force in the recent renovation and upgrades made to the Coastal Heritage Museum in Crystal River.

Our community suffered a great loss with the passing of Flo Jones, but her kindness, selflessness, and spirit of giving will continue to inspire all those who knew her.
The Service of Remembrance for Ms. Jones will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. Interment will follow at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Floral City, Florida.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Friday at the Inverness Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Home & Crematory.
