On Thursday, May 29th, at 7 pm, The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum presents a Free Coffee and Conversation with Citrus County’s Friends of Crystal Memorial Gardens- a historic cemetery.

Come and learn about Citrus County’s early African American citizens in a conversation with members of the community moderated by Andrea McCray, Andrea is granddaughter of Mrs. Annie McCray, who was the Clerk of the Church at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. She produced and saved many funeral programs that we now have as official records. Due to the practice of segregation. many Black people of that time were not listed in County and State records. Andrea is also President of the Friends of Crystal Memorial Gardens Cemetery, and the panel will also be talking about the effort to preserve, maintain, and create markers at this historic cemetery in Crystal River.
