Please RSVP to reserve your seat by calling the museum office between Tuesday and Saturday at (352) 341-6428.\n\nMore than just a melting pot of cultures\, Florida is a melting pot of music. From conga to country\, rap to rock\, pop songs to disco beats\, the state’s diversity is reflected in the songs and sounds of some of America’s most notable performers. Florida’s discography of artists spans nearly every genre of music\, from balladeers like Pat Boone to country artists like Slim Whitman\, and rockers and pop stars including Tom Petty and the Backstreet Boys. Also on the playlist are musical legends including Ray Charles\, Jimmy Buffet\, and the Bee Gees—all of whom will be seen and heard in this fun-filled presentation of trivia\, audio clips\, and archival videos. Just press play!\n\nNative Floridian Gary McKechnie is a two-time National Geographic author\, author of America’s best-selling motorcycle guidebook\, and two-time winner of the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Award. On stage\, he has honed his skills as a motivational storyteller\, a stand-up comedian\, and improv actor. He is also a guest speaker aboard the ships of Cunard\, Seabourn\, and the Silversea lines. His travel features on Florida have appeared in newspapers\, magazines\, and through VisitFlorida.\n\nThis Florida Talks program is a partnership between Florida Humanities and The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum. SUMMARY:Historic Haunt- an Immersive Haunt Experience
DESCRIPTION:​Sponsored by Raymond Frankart Roofing and hosted by Citrus County Historic Courthouse\, the Twistid Arts Initiative’s Historic Haunt is a fully immersive experience\, and one of the attractions taking place during the City of Inverness’ Cootertober. The Historic Haunt will feature an interactive element in which visitors can search for items through the haunt and return to our website to submit the answers. Correct answers will be entered to win a $100 VISA gift card. The Historic Haunt is suitable for ages 13 and up. It will contain fog\, strobe lighting effects\, disturbing scents\, and jump scares. You should not enter if you are pregnant\, are sensitive to strobe lights\, or have a heart condition. Ghostbusters R&D and America’s Angels will be providing a “Containment Area” around the Haunt. This will include an interactive kids zone with licensed professional child care for parents looking to enter the Historic Haunt. $5 Entry. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
