It is a vacation wonderland where people from around the world come to bask in the sun or visit theme parks\, and it is also home to Florida man (and woman). As a state built almost solely on imagination\, it is no surprise that our imaginations have sometimes run wild when it comes to telling Florida stories on film. From the Creature from the Black Lagoon to the Skunk-Ape\, George Romero’s zombies\, and the sharks in the Jaws sequels\, all types of supernatural monsters have set up their homes in Florida. Meanwhile\, true crime stories and real-life slashers like Aileen Wuornos and Andrew Cunanan have since inspired Dexter Morgan’s Bay Harbor Butcher.
